Little Heroes, Big Adventures
Filmfest München is celebrating its 25th birthday this year! And the Kinderfilmfest has been a part of it from the very beginning. Thanks to everyone who’s been a part of it, all our supporters and lovers of children’s films.

We have plenty of exciting and funny films but this anniversary year the adventures rule! Movies about kids in all kinds of adventures. A Finnish girl rescues two wolf cubs from fur traders in MYSTERY OF THE WOLF. In LITTLE HEROES, Israeli children set out to free a couple trapped in a car. AZUR & ASMAR, the new animated film by Michel Ocelot, follows the adventures of two very different brothers and shows how, despite their differences, they reunite. For the younger children we have the animated film DESMOND & THE SWAMP BARBARIAN TRAP, about an idyllic community of animals and a thief who is not easy to catch.

The Kinderfilmfest will be opened on Saturday afternoon in the Carl-Orff-Saal by the German film SILLY’S SWEET SUMMER. A new boy in the class is made fun of by his classmates but eventually succeeds in making good friends. The film will be shown with a special audio track for the visually impaired – many thanks to Bavarian Broadcasting for their support!

Since we are screening so many interesting feature films this year, several of them German premieres, we only have one screening of short films, but very good ones – among the film adaptation of Tomi Ungerer’s children’s book, THE MOONMAN.As part of our 25thanniversary, KInderkino München is presenting the book “Mach’s noch einmal Charlie! 100 Filme for Kinofans” by Thomas Binotto. The author will read selections from his book with examples from his list of the 100 best films. On Friday afternoon there will be a podium discussion on the commercial chances of German children’s films not adapted from bestselling children’s books.

Kids also have the opportunity on Friday and Saturday to participate in a workshop that has become a tradition at the Kinderfilmfest. This year they can make their own animated film with the ‘trick box’ and it will be screened! All week long kids can vote for their favorite film with their ticket stubs. We want to know what you think! The Kinderfilmfest Audience Award will be announced on Saturday afternoon and the winning film then screened.

So, we hope you have a lot of fun!
