12 Films in Competition for ARRI/Osram Award
THE BLIND CHRIST by Christopher Murray
The CineMasters sidebar is the flagship competition of the Munich festival, for major films by well-known international directors. The selection this year features some of the biggest names of international film, including the latest by Munich regular Michael Haneke HAPPY END, starring Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Marie Trintignant, the homage to Jean-Luc Godard REDOUTABLE by Oscar winner Michel Hazanavicius. Arnaud Desplechin also cast Hazanavicius' Godard actor Louis Garrel in ISMAEL’S GHOSTS.
Sofia Coppola won Best Director in Cannes for THE BEGUILED, Claire Denis won the Director's Fortnight for BRIGHT SUNSHINE IN. Also from Cannes come THE INTRUDER by Leonardo di Costanzo, A GENTLE CREATURE by Sergei Loznitsa and THE DAY AFTER by Sangsoo Hong. Andrey Zvyagatsinev and Amat Escalante return to Munich after LEVIATHAN (2014) and HELI (2013), this time with LOVELESS and THE UNTAMED. THE BLIND CHRIST by Christopher Murray and HOME by Fien Troch complete the program.
