  • CineMerit Award

    Since 1997, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN has honored outstanding personalities in the international film community for extraordinary contributions to motion pictures as an art form.

  • ARRI/OSRAM Award

    The ARRI/OSRAM Award goes to the best international film. ARRI has donated the award 2008. Osram joined as sponsor 2013. The Award carries a purse valued at 50 000 Euros and is awarded by a three-member independent jury.

  • CineVision Award

    Sponsored by German film and TV rights society Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten (GWFF), the CineVision Award carries a purse of €12,000 and honors the producer of an international newcomer film. The award has been presented at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN since 2007, since 2012 it has its own section. An independent three-member jury elects the winner.

  • German Cinema New Talent Award

    The German Cinema New Talent Award is sponsored by DZ Bank, Bavaria Film and Bayerischer Rundfunk. It carries a total purse of 70 000 Euros and goes to the best newcomers in the New German Cinema section in the categories of Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actor

  • Bernd Burgemeister TV Movie Award

    Awarded by German film & TV producers' royalty co. VFF to the producer of the best German TV Movie in the festival program. € 25,000 purse.

  • Sophie Opel Award

    The Sophie Opel Award will be presented at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN for the first time in 2016. The donor is automobile manufacturer Adam Opel AG. €20,000 goes to the three best short films/commercials which deal with the topic “U-turn in Your Head”. The winners are selected by an independent jury.

  • The BAYERN 2 and SZ Audience Award

    Awarded by the audience at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. All films screening in the festival are eligible. The award exists since 2004. Presented by BAYERN 2 and Süddeutsche Zeitung since 2016.

  • Fipresci Prize

    The international film critics’ association FIPRESCI will be presenting an award at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN for the first time 2015. The FIPRESCI Prize will be awarded by a three-member international jury to the best film in the New German Cinema section.

  • The German Cinema Award for Peace - The Bridge

    Awarded by the Bernhard Wicki Memorial Fund since 2002 to film artists whose work builds bridges and inspires tolerance and humanitarianism. € 10,000 prize money.

  • Shocking Shorts Award

    Short film award presented annually by NBC Universal pay channel 13TH STREET. The winner receives a backstage pass to Universal Studios in Hollywood.

  • Fritz Gerlich Prize

    The Fritz Gerlich Prize goes to a feature film or documentary that courageously deals with a topic of public concern, reflecting Fritz Gerlich’s commitment to human rights, his endeavors to resist repression and intolerance and his opposition to all forms of the totalitarian abuse of power, persecution and oppression.

  • Transmedia Prize

    In the spirit of journalist Fritz Michael Gerlich (1883-1934), an Idea Competition is taking place. The Akademie für Film- und Fernsehdramaturgie TOP: Talente e.V. in cooperation with Tellux Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is looking for cross or transmedial ideas for socially relevant topics. Anyone can participate. The winners will be announced and introduced at the award ceremony of the Fritz Gerlich Prize during FILMFEST MÜNCHEN.
