German TV Movies on the Big Screen
FILMFEST MÜNCHEN will be screening 23 of the best TV Movies of the coming year on the big screen.
The lineup of the German TV Movie section of the 28th FILMFEST MÜNCHEN (June 24 - July 2, 2011) is complete. 23 of the best new TV productions including feature-length documentaries, will have their premieres on the silver screen in Munich. "We'll be showing cream of the crop", says festival director Andreas Ströhl.
The premieres will include two 3-hour films that will be shown in 2 parts. Peter Keglevic's DER CHINESE, based on the novel by Swedish crime writer and children's author Henning Mankell and the German-British coproduction, THE SINKING OF THE LACONIA, written by acclaimed English television dramatist Alan Bleasdale.
The fiction films in the German TV Movie section will be competing for the 2011 Bernd Burgemeister TV Movie Award (formerly the VFF TV Movie Award), which will be awarded at a ceremony on June 26 at the festival. The award and € 25,000 is sponsored by the VFF, the German film & TV producers' royalty company, and goes to the producer of the winning film. This year's jury is comprised of actress Bernadette Heerwagen, writer-director Julia von Heinz and Andreas Schreitmüller of ARTE.
