Winner 2008: EVERYBODY DIES BUT ME

Director: Valeria Gaia Germanica
Russia 2008

Cinevision _2008

The CineVision Award for EVERYBODY DIES BUT ME was accepted by world sales agent Nicholas Kaiser (REZO Films) for director Valeria Gaia Germanica. It was presented by Bernd Rottmeier for DZ BANK Munich.

Jury Statement:

"Adolescents can laugh and cry almost at the same time. On the surface there are sudden fierce reactions, deeper down there is an innocence, a dreamy inner world." That's how Russian director Valeria Gaia Germanica describes the protagonists in her film EVERYBODY DIES BUT ME. The excellent performances by her young cast bring the world of teenage emotions to the screen with authenticity and intensity. A lot of it may appear to be a horror scenario, but the characters' strength and determination shows that there is hope for their future.
Also nominated: HOME and LOS BASTARDOS.

Winner 2007: THE BAND'S VISIT

Director: Eran Kolirin
Israel 2007

Bandsvisit2

Producer Eilon Ratzkovsky (middle) receives the CineVision Award for THE BAND'S VISIT. In the background (from left to right): jury members actor Maximilian Brückner, film journalist Karsten Kastelan, director Ulrike von Ribbeck and festival director Andreas Ströhl

Jury Statement:

"The film stands out because of its unostentatious humanity. THE BAND'S VISIT plays with opposites: men in uniforms and civilians, Israeli and Egyptians. It's about human dignity and respect. The film has, apart from other qualities, a virtuosity and a lightness that set it apart from other films with even more serious subject matter".

More... News-Overview
