Nathalie...
Filmfest 2004

Two women. One is married, bourgeois, cultured. The other is a bar hostess. Catherine pays Marlene to sleep with her adulterous husband Bernard and she wants to know everything, the most intimate details. Catherine turns Marlene into Nathalie, her personal spy. It’s their secret, and this is their story ... – “The disturbing attraction between these two women is a chemical, not a psychological connection. It’s an hypnotic encounter neither one can control. For Marlene, it is unimaginable serendipity, getting close to a "normal" woman who opens a world of stronger and stronger sensations. It’s inverse psychiatry – the person who speaks makes the listener feel better. In the beginning, there is a simple agreement: One pays and the other does her job. Gradually, they break their own rules. There is a kind of cruelty in the way each one uses the other. They are both profoundly affected by this unique human contact, and their relationship becomes hopelessly tangled.” Anne Fontaine
