The Afghan Alphabet
Bombs can destroy a political regime but they cannot change a culture. You cannot free a woman imprisoned in a burqa with a rocket. Afghan girls need education. They don’t know that they don’t know. They are imprisoned but do not know that they are prisoners of poverty, ignorance, prejudice, male chauvinism and superstition. 95% of the women and 80% of the men in Afghanistan did not have the chance to attend school even before the Taliban. AFGHAN ALPHABET explores the cultural problems of contemporary Afghanistan.
