A Whole Life Ahead
Filmfest 2009

We based our film on "The World Should Know", an amusing satire by a young Sardinian author, Michela Murgia. Her work, in fact, all began as a blog to let the world know about the surreal reality of a call center. This was precious documentary material that incited us to look into this distressful situation, also through the lively and inquisitive eyes of an intelligent and cultivated young woman. We then also felt free to invent other characters, such as telephone operator Sonia. Above all, we imagined the life of our protagonist Marta, with her bold character full of pride and dignity, yet also compassionate and kind to her newfound fellow workers. She, who had spent years in a library studying Heidegger and Hannah Arendt, suddenly finds herself in a world where the latest trendy accessories of the head telephone operator are the most exciting topic of the day...
