Spring in wartime. Each day a milkman crosses the frontline on a donkey, dodging bullets to bring his precious wares to the soldiers. Blessed with good fortune on his mission, loved by a beautiful villager, a peaceful future seems to await him… until the arrival of a mysterious Italian woman turns his life upside down. Emir Kusturica, born in Sarajevo 1954, belongs to a handful of directors who won the Gold Palm in Cannes twice: For WHEN FATHER WAS AWAY ON BUSINESS (1985) and for UNDERGROUND (1995). After his second win, he took time off from the movie world to tour with his Non Smoking Orchestra as bass player. He also composes the music to films like BLACK CAT, WHITE CAT (1998) and LIFE IS A MIRACLE (2004).
