FILMFEST MÜNCHEN doesn't have an official competition but plenty of awards

Arri-Zeiss Award

ARRI and Carl Zeiss AG will be presenting their award for the second consecutive year. The Arri-Zeiss Award (€ 50,000) goes to the best foreign film, which will be selected by an independent jury.

CineVision Award



The CineVision Award (including € 12,000 prize money) goes to a first or second non-German film in the Filmfest München program that is innovative, goes in new aesthetic directions and is an outstanding contribution to the cinematic arts. It is intended to encourage new filmmakers as well as to foster new tendencies in cinema. It is being presented for the first time this year and is sponsored by the DZ BANK.

The Bernhard Wicki Film Prize - The Bridge

This prize has been awarded by the Bernhard Wicki Memorial Fund since 2002 to artists in the film industry whose work builds bridges and inspires tolerance and humanitarianism. The prize money is € 10,000.

Bayern 3-Audience Prize
(presented by the Abendzeitung)

The "Bayern 3-Audience Prize", new in 2004, is entirely decided by the audience at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. It can be won by any of the films screening in the festival program.

The audience prize for children's films at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. The film that gets most votes from the young movie fans wins the audience prize.

Bernd Burgemeister TV Movie Award

Formerly known as the "VFF TV Movie Award", the Bernd Burgemeister TV-Movie Award is presented by the Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten (German Royalty Collecting Company of Film & TV Producers) to the producer of the best German TV Movie in the festival program.
The winner receives € 25,000.

The Young German Cinema Award

The Young German Cinema Award goes to the best new director, producer, screenwriter as well as the best new actor and actress of a film in the New German Cinema section of FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. It is awarded jointly by the HypoVereinsbank, Bavaria Film and Bavarian Broadcasting.
