Once again this year, prizes can be awarded at FILMFEST MUNICH thanks to the donors. The CineMerit Awards go to Robin Wright and Senta Berger, Franka Potente is the second winner of the Margot Hielscher Award, and the New German Cinema Promotion Award went to creative young talents.

A new format for premieres, “FILMFEST MÜNCHEN at Your Cinema”, debuts with the screening of Helena Hufnagel’s comedy COMMITMENT PHOBIA in numerous cinemas throughout Bavaria and the rest of Germany on July 6 — parallel to the film’s grand premiere in Munich.
Ten films from nine countries around the globe guarantee maximum variety and diversity of (narrative) perspective in this year’s CineMasters competition. Queerness and surreal incursions into everyday life are common themes in these uncommon stories, which are not infrequently presented as genre films.
