Moscow is beautiful. A light, lively place to meet, fall in love, maybe more. A couple meets in the world of Japanimation, as brightly colored avatars. But meeting in the flesh is a disappointment. What next? Director Anna Melikyan (who screened STAR at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2015) tells five intertwined stories of relationships, wittily connected by a lecture on love. Meet the director
Anna Melikyan
Anna Melikian was born in Baku, Armenia in 1976. She studied directing at VGIK Moscow, graduating 2002. Her short films ANDANTE, LET’S FLY, POSTE RESTANTE and DOUBLE BASS won awards at over 40 international festivals, and were acquired by the film museums of Rome and Melbourne. Her feature debut MARS (2004) premiered at Berlin Film Fest. Her second film MERMAID (2007) won Best Director at Sundance. STAR (2014) screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN.
