LIGHT YEARS
When asked by her colleague Manuel Abramovich whether he could film the director during the shooting of ZAMA, her current film, Lucrecia Martel said she was light-years away from being the main character in a film. But then she consented. This is how the documentary AÑOS LUZ came about. The film offers a wonderful impression of the work of the very sensitive and calm director. We see Martel as she carefully discusses and selects props, assesses the make-up, and works intensely with the actors on set. She has precise ideas and focuses intently on her vision — always wearing her characteristic cat-eye glasses and holding a cigar in her hand.
