EXHIBITION: UFA - HISTORY OF A BRAND

Presented by the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung

To mark the 100th anniversary of UFA's founding, the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen in Berlin came up with the idea for the exhibition "Ufa – The History of a Brand". From June 8 to September 16, 2018, this exhibition can be seen in the Kunstfoyer of the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung in Munich. By focusing on a media conglomerate's strategies and its reactions to the societal and political conditions, as well as to the aesthetic and technical innovations, of various periods, the exhibition reflects the development of audiovisual media from the time of World War I to the present.

FILMFEST MÜNCHEN offers a particular highlight: during the festival, the exhibition will, for the first time, include the walkable VR experience EIN GANZES LEBEN (directed by Thomas André Szabó). The film accompanies Maria, an actress, on a time-travel adventure through the age of German film, from a silent-film scene all the way to the present. The user will experience how illusions and technical sleight of hand have always been used to create that special magic.
