This enchanting children’s book adaptation tells of an unconventional bond between two outsiders.
Jonna, an orphan, wants nothing more than to be adopted. She’d take anyone at all, as long as they loved her. When the big day finally arrives and her new mother pulls up in front of the orphanage in a rickety old car, she’s in for a big shock. When the car door opens, it’s not a human, but a gorilla in pink pants, who emerges. Jonna gets scared: she’s unsure if she wants to go off with this big, ungainly ape. Arriving at her new home in a junkyard, she soon realizes what a loving and caring mother she now has. But her newfound happiness is threatened by the machinations of a money-hungry creep who wants to build a swimming pool on the junkyard property.
The film is screened in original version with German voice-over.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Meet the director
Linda Hambäck
Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1974, Linda Hambäck lives in Sweden, where she is a film director as well as head of the production company LEE Film. She mainly makes animated films for children. Her acclaimed feature-length debut, the animated children’s film GORDON & PADDY, had its world premiere at the 2018 Berlinale and was screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN that same year. Hambäck’s second feature-length animated film, THE APE STAR, was adapted from an award-winning children’s book by Frida Nilsson.
