This film shows the impact on an ordinary family of Jair Bolsonaro’s election as president of Brazil while dreaming of living on Mars.
The Martins belong to Brazil’s lower class, but they don’t let their circumstances cloud their positive outlook. The election of Jair Bolsonaro as president, however, has made it increasingly hard to have big dreams. An unexpected encounter leaves Tércia, the mother, wondering whether she’s cursed. Her husband, Wellington, pins all his hopes on the soccer career of their son, Deivinho, who would rather study astrophysics and colonize Mars. Meanwhile, their daughter, Eunice, falls in love with a free-spirited young woman. Is it time to leave the country, or would it better to stay and try to resist what’s going on?
