This drama about indigenous magic and a forgotten aspect of German colonialism straddles the line between period film, political thriller, and fantasy genre film.
Chiloé Island in 1880. After her father is murdered by a German colonist, Rosa Raín, a 13-year-old Huilliche girl, renounces her Christian upbringing and seeks refuge with Mateo, the leader of an indigenous organization that practices witchcraft. Under Mateo's gruff yet tender tutelage, she learns the art of sorcery and vows to settle the score.

Christopher Murray
Christopher Murray was born in Santiago de Chile in 1985. He holds a degree in audiovisual directing from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His first feature film, MANUEL DE RIBERA, premiered in Rotterdam in 2010, was named best domestic film at the Santiago International Film Festival, and was screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN the same year. Christopher Murray is co-founder of an online documentary project called "Film Map of a Country" (MAFI, www.mafi.tv). He was the lead director on the collective film project PROPAGANDA, in which sixteen young members of MAFI explored the turbulent Chilean presidential election of 2013. PROPAGANDA was named best documentary at the 2014 Pedro Sienna Awards and received the Jury Prize at Visions du Réel in Nyon, Switzerland, as well as the Special Jury Prize at the Santiago International Documentary Film Festival (FIDOCS). Murray's second feature film, EL CRISTO CIEGO (2016), had its world premiere in competition at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival and was also screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. SORCERY (2023) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
