The amusingly nonchalant directorial debut of popular Argentinian actress Dolores Fonzi, with herself in the title role, is being screened at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN shortly after its world premiere in Buenos Aires.
No, the young man lying next to Blondi early in the morning, with whom she smokes pot and gets into mischief, is not her new lover, but her son, Mirko. Blondi is more of a buddy than a guardian to him. She had Mirko when she was 15 years old; now they are unusually close. But a new type of family means entirely new challenges. When her older sister, Martina, absconds from her dreary marriage, Blondi is suddenly raising Martina's children. And before you know it, mother and son are on a road trip they could never have imagined to visit a community of hippies in southern Argentina.
Meet the director
Dolores Fonzi
Dolores Fonzi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1978. She had her first television appearance at age 17 in the series LA NENA. In 1998, she starred alongside her brother Tomás Fonzi in the telenovela VERANO DEL '98, but soon left the series to take on her first film roles in Marcelo Pineiro's film BURNT MONEY and Daniel Burman's WAITING FOR THE MESSIAH. Other film and television productions followed, making Fonzi one of Argentina's best-known actresses. For her performance in Santiago Mitre's PAULINA (2015), she was awarded the Cóndor de Plata film prize for best leading actress. She played the female lead in Federico Veiroj's THE MONEYCHANGER (FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2021). BLONDI (2023) marks Dolores Fonzi's debut as a feature-film director.
