FAQs: Tickets for FILMFEST MÜNCHEN

There are several premieres this year at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN in the area of ticket sales. New features such as print@home tickets and a webshop for accredited persons make it even easier to buy tickets — and put an end to standing in line. In order for you to have a seamless experience, we have compiled the most important information here.

When do advance ticket sales start online and at the box offices?

The Filmfest box office at the Gasteig opens on June 13, while ticket sales at all other Filmfest box offices start on June 28, when the festival begins. The precise opening hours will be posted here in time for the festival.  Advance sales in the online Webshop will also begin on June 13. Tickets for selected films may be obtained even earlier.

For which films can I buy tickets in advance?

Tickets for the Kinderfilmfest are available starting May 2. Tickets for the films in the New German TV Movies section are available starting May 9. The FILMFEST MÜNCHEN program team will, in addition, highlight selected films for which tickets may be purchased as early as May 23. You'll find these selected films in the section of the program called "First Highlights".

How much do tickets cost?

Ticket prices and conditions for discounts are listed here.

How can I pay?

The Filmfest box offices accept cash, MasterCard, Visa, and debit cards. The Filmfest Webshop offers you the choice of payment via MasterCard, Visa, or SOFORT Überweisung.

How does my print@home ticket admit me to the film?

You may print out your print@home tickets or simply display them on your smartphone when being admitted to the cinema. You no longer need to exchange the tickets at the festival box office, which will save you the bother of standing in line.

What is a Filmfest Package?

When you buy a Filmfest Package (5x ticket, 10x ticket, or 20x ticket), you will receive the corresponding number of ticket vouchers (5, 10, or 20). You can then exchange these as you wish for tickets in the Filmfest Webshop. The advantage: savings compared to the price of individual tickets.

Where can I buy and redeem Filmfest Packages?

You can buy Filmfest Packages here in the regular Filmfest Webshop. You can then redeem the ticket vouchers in Filmfest Webshop | Filmfest Packages. Simply choose a screening, click on the ticket button, and then select REDEEM 5X, 10X, 20X. You can, of course, also buy and redeem Filmfest Packages at our Filmbest box offices (please present your voucher).

How can I use my accreditation to obtain tickets?

As before, you can present your accreditation badge at the Filmfest box offices to obtain free tickets. This year, starting on June 26, the Filmfest Webshop | Accreditation will be available for the first time; there you can log in using your accreditation and obtain tickets. Simply select a screening, click on the ticket button, and then select ACCREDITATION. Tickets for the desired screening may be obtained two days in advance. Please be prepared to show your accreditation badge upon admission to the auditorium.

Certain screenings or events do not have a ticket button. How can I still attend?

If a screening does not have a ticket button, you will usually find all relevant information in the description of the event. Certain events that take place at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN require registration, while others are open to the general public — no ticket required. No ticket is required for Filmmakers Live! discussions or for the award-winning film at the Kinderfilmfest. Just come by! Admission as long as seating is available. First come, first served.

Screenings for accredited persons (the press, guests, and representatives of the film industry) also do not require a ticket. Simply show your accreditation badge upon admission to the auditorium. Here, too, the rule is: first come, first served.
