NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN premieres in Venice
Festival director Diana Iljine, the award winners Viola Fügen and Michael Weber and Bavarian Minister of State Kerstin Schreyer
The recipients of the 2019 FILMFEST MÜNCHEN CineCoPro Award, Match Factory Productions (Viola Fügen, Michael Weber) have invested the prize money (100,000 euros) in the latest film from Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert, NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN, which is having its world premiere today, Monday, in competition in Venice.
We were very pleased to hear this and believe we have struck a chord in creating this competition and award at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. The idea behind this new competition is to promote international collaborations involving German participants. The prize money for 2019 came from a special budget of the Bavarian Ministry of Digital Affairs, and we sincerely hope that the award will become a permanent fixture in the coming years. Match Factory Productions received the first CineCoPro Award for the German-Brazilian co-production A VIDA INVISÍVEL DE EURÍDICE GUSMÃO. Their latest film, financed with the prize money, is another international co-production.
(Co-)producers Viola Fügen and Michael Weber remarked to us:
“The Filmfest München CineCoPro Award was the missing component in the financing of NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN which enabled us to green-light the film and make Małgo and Misha’s vision a reality without concessions or restrictions. This shows how important this award is. We as producers are very grateful to the initiators of the CineCoPro Award.”
The entire FILMFEST MÜNCHEN team wishes them a wonderful world premiere!
