  • CineMerit Award

    Since 1997, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN has honored outstanding personalities in the international film community for extraordinary contributions to motion pictures as an art form.

  • ARRI/OSRAM Award

    The ARRI/OSRAM Award goes to the best international film in the CineMasters Competition. ARRI has donated the award 2008. Osram joined as sponsor 2013. The Award carries a purse valued at 50 000 Euros and is awarded by a three-member independent jury.

  • CineVision Award

    Sponsored by MPLC Deutschland GmbH (Motion Picture Licensing Company), the CineVision Award carries a purse of €15,000 and honors the director of an international newcomer film. The award has been presented at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN since 2007, since 2012 it has its own section: the CineVision Competition for Best International Film by an Emerging Director. The award goes to the director of the film. An independent three-member jury elects the winner.

  • CineCoPro Award

    The 100,000-euro CineCoPro Award is the most generous award for German co-producers of international co-productions. It will be presented as part of a curated competition at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2019. As many as ten international co-productions involving German co-producers will compete for this unique prize in a special section of the program. All of the nominated films will be celebrating their world premiere or their German premiere in Munich. The award is funded by an additional subsidy provided to FILMFEST MÜNCHEN by the Bavarian Ministry of Digital Affairs.

  • German Cinema New Talent Award

    The German Cinema New Talent Award is sponsored by DZ Bank, Bavaria Film and Bayerischer Rundfunk. It carries a total purse of 70 000 Euros and goes to the best newcomers in the New German Cinema section in the categories of Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actor

  • Bernd Burgemeister TV Movie Award

    Awarded by German film & TV producers' royalty co. VFF to the producer of the best German TV Movie in the festival program. € 25,000 purse. Since 2017 the two nominees also get a reward of € 2,500 each.

  • The BAYERN 2 and SZ Audience Award

    Awarded by the audience at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. All films screening in the festival are eligible. The award exists since 2004. Presented by BAYERN 2 and Süddeutsche Zeitung since 2016.

  • Kinderfilmfest Audience Award

    The young audiences at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN vote for their favorite film. SZ Familie presents the Audience Award of the Kinderfilmfest München. The winner will receive €1,000!

  • Fipresci Prize

    The international film critics’ association FIPRESCI began presenting an award at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN in 2015. The FIPRESCI Prize will be awarded by a three-member international jury to the best film in the New German Cinema section.

  • Margot Hielscher Award

    This award is for an outstanding national or international artistic personality who in his or her youth demonstrated versatility and achievement in various cultural disciplines. The 10,000-euro prize money is donated by media publisher Peter Graf von Schall-Riaucour, the nephew of actress and singer Margot Hielscher, who passed away in 2017. The award-winner was selected by FILMFEST MÜNCHEN's curating team in coordination with the benefactor of the award. The award is also made possible by the support of former Munich mayor Christian Ude.

  • Fritz Gerlich Prize

    The Fritz Gerlich Prize goes to a feature film or documentary that courageously deals with a topic of public concern, reflecting Fritz Gerlich’s commitment to human rights, his endeavors to resist repression and intolerance and his opposition to all forms of the totalitarian abuse of power, persecution and oppression.

  • Transmedia Prize

    In the spirit of journalist Fritz Michael Gerlich (1883-1934), an Idea Competition is taking place. The Akademie für Film- und Fernsehdramaturgie TOP: Talente e.V. in cooperation with Tellux Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is looking for cross or transmedial ideas for socially relevant topics. Anyone can participate. The winners will be announced and introduced at the award ceremony of the Fritz Gerlich Prize during FILMFEST MÜNCHEN.

  • Starter Film Awards by the City of Munich

    Awarded by the City of Munich since 1985, the presentation of the Starter-Filmpreise has a long tradition. In 2019 for the first time, the event will be held at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. Each year, three Starter Film Awards of 6,000 euros each are given to artistically outstanding films, particularly those by young, unestablished Munich filmmakers, in order to support the next generation of aspiring, innovative directors.

  • Cinema Awards by the City of Munich

    The City of Munich's Kinoprogrammpreise or Cinema Awards, established in 2002, will be presented at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2019 for the first time. Each year, six awards, worth 7,500 euros each, recognize smaller committed cinemas in order to accentuate their important role in maintaining Munich's diverse cinema culture. Recognition is given to the efforts by the cinema operators to offer a substantial and diverse program of films. This award is intended to create awareness and recognition of the artistic and sociocultural value of these programs. The prize money serves to assist the award recipients in carrying out and maintaining their high-quality operations and to safeguard the future of these cinemas.

  • 13th Street Shocking Short

    Short film award presented annually by NBC Universal pay channel 13TH STREET. The winner receives a backstage pass to Universal Studios in Hollywood.
