Meet the director
Xiaowen Wang studied production design at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Art Directors Guild. She holds degrees in fashion and jewelry design and spent five years in New York to gain experience in costume and theater design, storyboarding and background painting. Before coming to the United States, she joined a prominent Chinese studio to learn animation production, set design, and media design.
In recent years, Wang has directed films and television series. A WHISPER IN THE ISLAND OF THE HEART is her second short film. Her first film, COCOON LOVE, was screened at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, the Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival, the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, and the OutSouth Queer Film Festival, among others.
