In an online workshop for school classes, program director Tobi Krell aka “Checker Tobi” will look behind the scenes of his latest motion picture, CHECKER TOBI UND DIE REISE ZU DEN FLIEGENDEN FLÜSSEN, and the upcoming series PUMUCKL'S NEW ADVENTURES. This 40-minute “show” with additional material on media education is offered to participating schools free of charge and is aimed at pupils in grades 1 to 6.
TEACHERS’ DAY is a continuing education seminar for teachers which will develop ways of using the documentary AND THE KING SAID, WHAT A FANTASTIC MACHINE, which is being screened at the Kinderfilmfest this year, in the classroom. The BJF companion seminar will explore our fascination with scary movies and discuss what to do when a film becomes too scary for children. And director Marcus H. Rosenmüller will talk about his work with Puck the Kobold (Pumuckl) in a workshop discussion.
Toward the end of the week-long festival, an independent three-member jury will present the CineKindl Award for best director. But mainly it’s your opinion that counts. Vote for the Kinderfilmfest Audience Award and speak up for your favorite film! As a finale, we’ll screen one of the two award-winning films; admission to this is free. Come by. We look forward to seeing you!
But even before the festival begins in June, the Pentecost holiday will offer a highlight for the whole family. Celebrating two milestones — 100 years of Disney and 40 years of FILMFEST MÜNCHEN — Disney and the Filmfest are jointly presenting the new adaptation of THE LITTLE MERMAID. This long-awaited live-action version of the Oscar®-winning animated classic about one of the most beloved film characters of all time is setting the tone for more diversity on screen. What’s more, all tickets to this event at the Mathäser Filmpalast on Sunday, May 28 will be given away to the audience in advance.
