The videos are fake, but their effects are all too real: this self-referential documentary describes the pushback against pornographic deepfakes and their consequences.

Ninety percent of deepfakes are pornographic content created without the consent of the women portrayed. In this film, a student named Taylor discovers that such videos of her are circulating on the Internet. As she can hardly expect the police to come to her aid, she and similar victims decide to track down the perpetrator. Together they uncover a disturbing parallel society in which misogyny is rampant.

Meet the director

Sophie Compton, Reuben Hamlyn

Sophie Compton is a British director, producer, and activist who tells stories of injustice from a woman's point of view. As artistic director of Power Play Productions, she produced and directed six plays, including "Funeral Flowers" and "Layers: Looking Inside Holloway Prison", an exhibition at Copeland Gallery featuring thirty former prisoners. She has produced and directed work at Tate Modern, the Science Museum, the V&A, Cockpit and others. Compton has led global activist campaigns that have led to changes in UK arts policy and to proposals for new legislation. She trained in trauma-informed practice with Clean Break and draws on this to develop projects that are empowering in process as well as message. Compton is currently directing the feature documentary HOLLOWAY. ANOTHER BODY is her first feature film.
Reuben Hamlyn is a filmmaker from London, England, who lives in New York. His short film ROGER (2019) tells the story of a service app worker who attempts to bypass technological barriers to forge a relationship with her client. That film premiered at BFI Southbank and aired on BBC Four; it was noted as a highlight of the program by "The Guardian" and was featured in "Vogue" before receiving the Jury Prize at Ennesimo Film Festival Filosofia and the Young Talent Award at the New Renaissance Film Festival. Previously, Hamlyn made BROTHER!, an experimental documentary about masculinity in pro-wrestling subcultures. ANOTHER BODY is Reuben's first feature film.
