It’s been a pleasure!

KINDERFILMFEST MÜNCHEN has ended and we proudly take stock of the past eight days of the festival.

It’s been a pleasure!

The past eight days have been exhilarating: from the opening of the Kinderfilmfest, when the new remake of THE ROBBER HOTZENPLOTZ celebrated its world premiere, to packed movie theaters and great conversations between the young audiences and our guests from the world of film, to the festive award ceremony, where for the first time we presented not only the audience award, but also the CineKindl Award for the best children’s film. Our movie screenings and supporting events drew more than 2,000 people in total.

We’d like to thank everyone whose help was crucial to putting this wonderful edition of the festival together. Thank you to the three members of our jury, who presented the CineKindl Award. Thank you to our terrific voiceover artists, who, live at the screenings, made sure that all the children and school classes were able to follow those films that weren’t in German. Many thanks to all the distributors, world sales and production companies that put their trust in us and celebrated lots of premieres with us. Thanks also to the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), which gave the Kinderfilmfest a new headquarters this year. We felt very much at home there. And last but not least: many thanks to our audience, to all the (grand)parents, teachers, and educators who brought their children, school classes, and kindergarten groups to our screenings in such large numbers.

Although this year’s festival has only just ended, we’re already looking forward to the next KINDERFILMFEST MÜNCHEN and to presenting further novelties. Stay tuned!

The images we see stay in our minds. Stories we hear tell us about our world. Who identifies with them? Who writes the screenplays for our films, who chooses the faces that appear in them, which environments get to be portrayed — and more importantly: which do not?
