London, 1973: Willie Parker has betrayed his underworld friends to the police. He turns Queen's evidence against them in court. As he leaves the witness stand the accused sing him a farewell: "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again, some sunny day". The meeting threatened in the words of this song takes place ten years later under the Spanish sun. Willie, now 38, is kidnapped. A hired killer is to take him to see his old acquaintances and later kill him. Willie, though, has prepared for this day for ten long years...
Made thirteen years after his first feature GUMSHOE, THE HIT catapulted Frears out of the world of television, relaunched his big screen career and placed him in the league of world-class filmmakers. It features acclaimed actor Tim Roth in his screen debut.
