The Great Depression - Made in Germany
Filmfest 2005

THE GREAT DEPRESSION - MADE IN GERMANY unveils and analyzes the country's collective depression, the gloomy, Teutonic dejection wearing us down - tragic, Faustian, in short, very German. Having said that, in the international depression contest we’re not even close to number one and way behind the Hungarians, the Finns or even our next door neighbors, the Austrians. But one symptom makes us special: We are not just depressed, we analyze our depression and feelings of guilt and get even more depressed. We suffer and moan, until we want to be anywhere or anything but here and now, anything but German.
