Rehearsals usually are very private. Especially those of famous German stage director Peter Zadek’s rehearsals have always been closed to the public, a way of protecting the incredibly intensive process of working with his ‘theatre family’. But what takes place in those rehaersals? What does a director actually do? How does he interact with his actors? For the first time in 16 years, Peter Zadek has given a film crew the permission to document the process of inventing a new staging. This film by Alexander Nanau gives you a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at an art perfected by Peter Zadek over the last several decades.
