Katharina and her daughter Laura move into an apartment building a year after her husband was killed in a car accident in which Laura lost her sight. After a hard year, things finally seem to be improving. But then one day, Katharina hears a noise from her neighbor Ruth's apartment. She goes over to find Ruth lying in a pool of blood. Katharina is taken to the hospital in a state of shock. The next day she sees Ruth, who seems in the best of health. This is the first in a troubling series of events...
