Filmfest 2008

Let's suppose the reality is a potato. This potato can be chopped up and prepared for the table in a lot of different ways. That is the art of cooking. In the art of cinema we usually find, extracted from the greater potato, reality, the lesser potato, film. That doesn't interest me because I don't like the taste, neither the rawness nor the reduction. My great-grandfather used to say you should get out of the potato what you can't see in it, and distilled schnaps. Herbert Achternbusch in: Dokumentation, Berlinale 1984
