Go With Peace Jamil
Filmfest 2008

An Arabic tale, which takes place in Scandinavia. About ancient religious hatred, about love, punishment, guilt and redemption, about being responsible for one's own actions and refusing a path of violence. Jamil stands in the middle. He is fighting the war of his life; a war within himself. Trust Film Sales "This film, GO IN PEACE JAMIL, is about Arabic people in a Western country. With my own mixed background (Danish/Arabic) I feel that I have the skill to tell this story. Jamil’s inner conflict, his ‘Jihad’, is based on religious hatred, revenge and the feeling of being trapped in a destiny that requires revenge. But first of all I want to show that Arabs are not just high tempered maniacs with bombs around their wastes. I wish to get inside their minds and show the sorrow and privation many Middle East people feel. I would like to illustrate the beauty of Arabic culture, the way the sophisticated Arabic language is used and the warmth and tenderness, which exists between most Arabs." O. Shargawi
