Paul Braams is a professor for criminology in Berlin, a passionate piano player and the father of a 21-year-old son. His wife Laura disappeared without a trace four years ago. When a convicted murderer, Jan Hartmann, promises Braams to tell him more about his missing wife if he proves his innocence, he jumps at the opportunity. Together with two forensic scientists he works with, Braams sets out to find a mysterious stranger called Sam, who – Hartmann claims – committed the crime for which he was convicted. Braams hopes he can finally throw light on his wife’s mysterious disappearance.
