Filmfest 2008

If Nazi Hunters Serge and Beate Klarsfeld weren't real, flesh-and-blood figures, one could easily take them for the fictional superheroes of a Hollywood thriller. Their lives have often unfolded like a thriller since the early 1970s, when the Franco-German couple began devoting itself to honoring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Alone, against all odds, without financial resources, the Klarsfelds challenged politicians, legal systems and the public opinion of several countries. Driven by an implacable determination, they succeeded in bringing several major Nazi war criminals to justice. This film focuses on one major, and exemplary, case, the hunt for Klaus Barbie. Faced with the question: "Must we forget? Must we leave the past alone?", the Klarsfelds had a clear answer: "No, we owe it to the victims to search for the truth and demand justice." Shot on location in Argentina, Bolivia and Germany, written in consultation with Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. german united distributors
