A train journey through the Norwegian countryside. In the driver’s cab Odd Horten, 67, is on his penultimate journey from Oslo to Bergen. Tomorrow he’ll make his last trip. But, for the first time in almost 40 years, Odd Horten will arrive too late and miss his last departure... Un Certain Regard, 2008 The moment the train leaves the station without train driver Odd Horten aboard, he realizes that the path ahead is a journey without printed timetables and well-known stations. Horten has retired, and the platform does not feel like a safe place anymore. With death as a metaphor, the film draws a melancholy and humorous portrait of an aging man in situations most people probably will not get into, but hopefully will recognize. Norwegian Films "Humor as dry as the powder snow along Odd Horten's train tracks." C.G.
