Dr. Plonk
Filmfest 2008

It is the great year 1907. Dr Plonk, scientist and inventor, calculates that the world will end in exactly 101 years unless immediate action is taken. As befalls visionaries through the ages, Plonk is ridiculed for his beliefs, by politicians, bureaucrats and even his faithful manservant, Paulus. Prime Minister Stalk is understandably sceptical of Plonk’s impenetrable reams of calculations, so Plonk invents a time machine to collect the necessary proof from the very future that’s ending. On his return to 1907, Plonk convinces Prime Minister Stalk to accompany him on a journey 100 years into the future, to see for himself what an outlandishly bizarre place the world has become. Then, in a fateful meeting with the Prime Minister of a century later, the future of the world is sealed.... Rolf de Heer (Ten Canoes) has spun back cinematic time to the days of Chaplin and Keaton with an energetic, funny, adventure-filled farce introducing Reg the dog as "Tiberius"! Production Notes
