After Heinrich Lohse, Procurement Manager at a large manufacturing firm, buys enough paper to last the company for the next 40 years – just to get a special discount – he is forced into early retirement. Now he finally has time to spend with his wife and their sixteen-year-old-son – their worst nightmare . . .
(PAPPA ANTE PORTAS is a play on Latin words. In ancient Rome it meant "Hannibal at the gates". It is used today in Germany to warn others of an imminent danger, i.e. a person or thing that is likely to be a considerable threat or menace.) Loriot's second film, like his first, deals with people talking at cross purposes, this time even more so. Communication between Mr. and Mrs. Lohse breaks down entirely . . .
