Sirens On The Rocks
Whereas SIRENS IN THE AGEAN was a culture clash comedy about misunderstandings between neighboring countries, Perakis' latest film, a sequel of sorts and also a comedy, deals with the problems of the Greeks themselves.
After the international incident in the Aegean, the combat unit returns to the mainland, many of them to Athens, where they are discharged. Minos, now a livestock breeder and hemp grower on Crete, travels to the capital. The police have arrested Nouri, the illegal immigrant orphan girl, now age 12, he 'adopted' back then. They plan to deport her. On his search for her, he runs into his old comrades-in-arms, in the meantime 'well-connected' in Greek society. With their help, he finds Nouri in the clutches of illegal traffickers and discovers that the crisis Greek society is in is not just an economic one.
