Niki is in his late twenties and has just dropped out of college. He lives for the moment and drifts through the streets of Berlin. He enjoys watching people live their lives and does not realize that he is becoming more and more of an outsider. One day, everything changes. His girlfriend pulls the plug on their relationship, his father cuts off his allowance and a psychiatrist confirms his 'emotional imbalance'. A beautiful girl confronts him with the wounds of her past and the whole city seems to have run out of coffee. "Do you know the feeling when people around you are behaving strangely and the longer you think about it, the more it dawns on you that it's not them but you." But immediately following that self-realization, Niko's day takes a tragic turn . . .
