One Fourty
Filmfest 2010

Karl Wallner, the protagonist of this short, is approximately fifty years old. At the age of 14, he was one meter forty tall and stopped growing. The film shows scenes from the life of a short person - at home, at work, in his free time. "The first film I made at the Vienna Film Academy. I wanted to make a film about a short person, but without the typical hypocritical feigned sympathy such documentaries tend to have. I wanted to show someone with a 'handicap' as an individual - one can laugh at or be bored by just like anybody else. The film, like many of my later films, sparked heated debate and I was called a cynical sociological pornographer."
