Truth About Men
Filmfest 2011

An affectionate and wickedly funny portrait of a generation of men shrinking from big commitments, yet asking the big questions about life and love. "Since the late 90’s, we have been bombarded with solid and often strong and funny films about the emotional life of the modern woman; dramas as well as comedies in which men assume the archetypical supporting role of the catalyst for impossible love, immaturity and sexual capability (or lack thereof). The films deal with a woman's place in modern society, the big choices she needs to make, how she finds love and happiness, and how she balances her career with her children and family... Rasmus Heisterberg and I started having a conversation about whether anybody has made a film that portrayed (and exhibited) men in that intimate and personal sphere. We felt that there was nobody who had dealt seriously with the theme of why modern men are the way they are." Nikolaj Arcel
