Istanbul in the early sixties. Latife is a brilliant mathematician and her time has finally come. She's given birth to three children and now her next priority is her career. She's been accepted at the University of Istanbul. But then there's bad news from Germany. Her husband Burhan's father has passed away and his mother wants him to take over the dental practice there. So the family packs up and moves to a small town in Germany. For the emancipated Turkish woman it's a big step backwards and culture shock pure. From now on, German pop music, Christmas, aristocrats and pork sausage are a part of her world.
