Filmfest 2015

SUNSTROKES is an observation on naivety, innocence, friendship, dreams and the desperate desire to make them come true. On its surface, it’s a very regional film, but its content is universal. Who isn't sometimes stupidly innocent? Who doesn't dream of living without working? Who doesn’t believe that they deserve seven days of absolute pleasure? Who doesn't think that happiness is somewhere else? SUNSTROKES is... filmed with two cameras and long shots. My idea was to give the characters enough time and space to reflect the nuances of a long, hot day. I wanted the camera to disappear so this group of girls could show us all of the uninhibited intimacy and private, feminine moments that are usually hidden from cinema. It's a film full of details: sweat dripping down their brows, heavy eyelids and irritated eyes, sunburned skin, sticky bodies… The picture is bright with saturated colours, providing a contrast to the grey scenery of Buenos Aires.
