LORDS OF DOGTOWN tells the radical true story behind three teenage surfers from Venice Beach, California, who took skateboarding to the extreme and changed the world of sports forever. Stacy Peralta (John Robinson), Tony Alva (Victor Rasuk) and Jay Adams (Emile Hirsch) are the Z-Boys, a bunch of nobodies until they create a new style of skateboarding that becomes a worldwide phenomenon. But when their hobby becomes a business, the success shreds their friendship. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Stacy Peralta, LORDS OF DOGTOWN is "...a dazzling daredevil ride" (Peter Travers, “Rolling Stone”). Also stars Tony Hawk, Heath Ledger and Johnny Knoxville.

Catherine Hardwicke was born in Cameron, Texas in 1955. She studied architecture at UT Austin before enrolling in the UCLA film program. She became a production designer, working with film directors such as Cameron Crowe, Richard Linklater, and David O. Russell. She was 48 when she had her directing debut with THIRTEEN (2003), which won Best Director at Sundance and the Silver Leopard in Locarno. Her next film was LORDS OF DOGTOWN, based on the documentary DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS. She went on to shoot several other feature films, including the first installment of TWILIGHT (2008), which became the most successful film shot by a female director ever, and fairy tale reboot RED RIDING HOOD (2011), produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and starring Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman.
