SILENCE OF THE WIND
Filmfest 2018

Rafael and his sister Carmen smuggle illegal migrants from the Dominican Republic and distant Africa to Puerto Rico, where they have a chance to live a better life. When Carmen is murdered, Rafael has no time to mourn. The flow of immigrants won't let up, and his family, including his teenage daughter, also requires his attention. When a boat full of hopeful immigrants sinks, he is confronted with even more death. In his debut feature film, Álvaro Aponte-Centeno offers a moving portrait of a human trafficker while contrasting the beauty of the Puerto Rican landscape with the fates of the refugees.
