Substitute teacher Pierre steps in at a private high school where the kids have experienced a trauma: before their eyes, their teacher had jumped out of the window to his death. Pierre's job is to help his students maintain not only their academic excellence, but also their mental health. Six of the students, however, remain oddly unemotional about the incident and in fact seem hostile to Pierre. Could they have had something to do with the suicide? Pierre becomes obsessed with them and is quickly sucked into their sinister game.

Born in France's Seine-Saint-Denis region in 1979, Sébastien Marnier studied applied arts in Montreuil and later specialized in painting and illustration in Amiens. In Paris, he devoted himself to film and literature. He is the author of three novels: "Mimi" (2011), "Une vie de petits fours" (2013), and "Qu4tre" (also 2013). With Élise Griffon, he co-wrote and co-directed the short films LE GRAND AVOIR (2002) and LE BEAU JACQUES (2003). Their co-written graphic novel "Salaire net et monde de brut" was the basis for an animated television series that was shown on Arte in 2016, for which they wrote the screenplay. Also in 2016, Marnier completed his first feature-length film, FAULTLESS. Lead actress Marina Foïs was nominated for a César for her performance. SCHOOL'S OUT is Marnier's second feature film.
