BJF SEMINAR: DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THE OUTSIDERS?

Most children's movies — including those at this year's festival — follow a classical narrative structure: The young heroes of the story experience a feeling of deprivation. They consider themselves outsiders and want to overcome this deficit. This creates tension and empathy. But do children's films always have to be about outsiders? Why are children so fascinated by them? Are all of us "outsiders" in one way or another? Or are these "just" narrative structures that adults have thought up for a young audience? These are not easy questions, but ones that the BJF accompanying seminar wishes to shed light on.

Please note that the seminar will be held in German.
