We are back in the festival cinemas and celebrate great world, European and German premieres. In addition, Sugar Mountain and Kino, Mond & Sterne are wonderful locations where you can enjoy cinema in an extraordinary setting.
The world is still defined by Corona restrictions, so FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is scaling down its film program and playing at eight new open-air locations. Culture comes back to life in Munich and we celebrate film in any weather.
A very special year in which we had to improvise. Sometimes we stood in the rain, sometimes the sun shone for us - with the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN Pop-Up we were able to spontaneously celebrate eight premieres under the open sky - with cast and crew and the wonderful Munich audience.
There is a lot of new things to discover at FILMFEST MUNICH 2019: The CineCoPro Award, endowed with 100,000 euros, will be awarded for the first time. As guests of honour we can welcome the actors Antonio Banderas and Ralph Fiennes as well as director Mads Brügger and Academy Award winner Bong Joon Ho. The new series "Virtual Worlds" offers an insight into virtual narrative forms and the cooperation "A Peculiar Vantage: A Selection of Black Cinema" with Museum Brandhorst brings the African-American artist Arthur Jafa to Munich.
