The perfect summer movie with wonderfully precise observations about the friendship shared by a group of women.
Six women in their late twenties have been a tight clique since their school days. As they do every summer, they’re going on vacation together to Lake Garda in northern Italy. The women have known each other for more than 15 years, but during that time they’ve grown apart in more ways than just geographical. Their friendship is based mainly on their shared past and has stagnated due to lots of unexpressed conflicts. This year there are only five in the group, because one abruptly decided not to go. Since then she’s been unreachable, leaving a lot of room for interpretation. A strict schedule, the various personalities and life crises, and all kinds of secrets that come to light finally push things to the breaking point one evening.

Meet the director
Sinje Köhler
Sinje Köhler is a freelance writer-director who was born in Darmstadt in 1988. After completing her Bachelor of Arts in motion pictures at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, she earned a degree in screenwriting and directing from the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. Her films have enjoyed international success, including a nomination for a Student Oscar and being awarded the top prize at FILMSCHOOLFEST 2017 for her short film BLUE SUMMER SYMPHONY. VIVA FOREVER (2021) is her feature-film debut, for which she also wrote the screenplay. Köhler lives in Berlin.
