Logline

Sometimes humorous, sometimes melancholy, these grand and amusing snapshots offer a reflection on our times.

In the grayish-brown hills of a dreary Scottish island, Omar’s baby-blue rain jacket is a real eye-catcher. When he enters a lonely telephone booth to call his mother in Turkey, comes face-to-face with his classmates in the drab integration classroom, or sees his grandfather’s silent oud, he’s reminded of the homeland he left behind. In wonderfully staged tableaux, director Ben Sharrock’s tragicomic debut film is about finding one’s way in a new country. The film was inspired by Sharrock’s own experiences working for an NGO in a refugee shelter in Algeria and during a stay in Damascus.
