FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is paying tribute this year to Małgorzata Szumowska, one of the most eminent film directors in Poland today. In conversation with curator Bernhard Karl, she’ll discuss her cinematic œuvre, including her latest film, NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN, which will be screened as part of the homage. In this film, Szumowska, who often explores boundaries, and her co-director and longtime creative companion Michał Englert sensitively address the hardships and loneliness that women experience in a sterile, uniform suburban environment and the way these are relieved when a miraculous masseur arrives on the scene. Both Szumowska and Englert will be at Filmmakers Live! in person.
